I don't really like Christmas.
Nine times out of ten I have to work though it.
It's an inconvienience to me. I have to buy things that my friends and relatives don't really want. I like looking at snow from the warm side of a window, but I hate driving or walking in it. I dont like the fact that other people are winding down for the year whilst I am gearing up for yet another stint at work. I don't like the fact that after all our over indulgence all we have to look foward to (in the UK at least) is January.
I DO like my boys however. Whatever time of year, Bodie and Doyle are with me. They become especially important at Christmas when there are challenges and threads going on. Whilst others are making lists and gathering supplies, I just want to make sure that I am keeping up with the latest lovely stories and pictures whist trying to come up with something of my own.
Happy Pros'ey Christmas everyone xx

Me, personally? I am so right there with you re xmas! Work is almost entirely unaffected, and it's DARK all the bloody time, dammit.

I disapprove of January almost in its entirety, February is let's just not talk about February shall we, and only in March does there begin to be daylight worthy of the name.

If I could I would spend DecemberJanuaryFebruary (at least) at the other end of the world :-\

Thoughts of B&D are just the thing to help one get through this time of year. Visions of CI5 agents dancing in our heads :-)

I'm glad that B and D can keep the spirit alive for you. I do like Christmas--and try very hard not to give people things they don't need, so I really strive to find special things that are useful and maybe fun, too.

I remember living in London and being surprised that it was dark by 3:30 in the afternoon--something no movie, story or even episode of Pros mentions!

The holiday season can be a bit frustrating - especially if you have to work through it while others get some time off. I do enjoy the cold and snow [weird - I know *g*]. And I do agree that all the Pro's challenges and reccies do make for a better holiday time!

Happy Pros'ey Christmas to yo, too!

Hey, I worked at the post office for over twenty years. I never liked to see Christmas coming! But I don't buy stuff that people don't want. In fact, most of my family and I agreed to no gifts years ago. The nieces and nephews got gifts when they were kids (gift cards mostly) but now they're grown, so no gifts. I do personal gifts for my kids, grandson and sister, and that's it. I don't send cards to many people. I don't like snow either. It's awful. So I do what I want at Christmas, not what other people expect or want. I'm nice that way! LOL!

And of course, the lads are a big part of Christmas. I enjoy all the new fic and art that we get.

Oh wow, I worked for the post office for nearly 15 years! I think that's largely what put me off Christmas too.

Yeah, working at the post office is an easy way to get to dislike Christmas! For years I didn't even do a tree other than a small Norfolk pine I had in my sunroom. :)

The Christmas season does come with certain pressures and expectations, doesn't it? I can understand how you feel about having to work and how that would put a dampener on the celebration side of things.

Remember you're in good company, with the lads often having to clock-on while everyone else is celebrating. *salutes*
